Cash Gifts

Not every gift fits on a shop shelf. Ask for cash towards something specific, or let a group split one bigger present. No spreadsheet.

Add a fund instead of a product

Sometimes what you actually want isn't a thing you can link to, it's a contribution toward something bigger: a honeymoon, a down payment, a trip you're saving for. Hey Yoink has a dedicated fund item type for exactly this. Give it a name and a goal amount instead of a product link, add your payment details (a Venmo handle, a bank account, whatever your group already uses), and it shows up on your list right alongside everything else.

Hey Yoink coordinates the gift, not the money

To be clear about how this actually works: Hey Yoink never touches anyone's money or processes a payment itself. What it does is keep the giving side organized, showing who's already contributed so nobody sends money in not knowing if the fund is already covered, and pointing contributors to the payment details you set up yourself. The actual transfer happens however you and your guests already handle money between each other, whether that's Venmo, a bank transfer, or cash in an envelope.

Splitting a single expensive item

The same idea works for a regular gift, not just a fund. If something on your list is too pricey for one person to reasonably buy alone, a group of guests can jointly claim it and split it between however many people want in. Everyone who joins can see who else is chipping in, and the item is marked claimed for the rest of the list the moment the first person joins, so nobody buys it separately by mistake.

Either way, the group figures out the actual dollar amounts between themselves. Hey Yoink just keeps everyone looking at the same list of who's already in.

When cash gifts make more sense than a product

A wedding, a big move, a milestone birthday where everyone chipping in on one great gift beats a pile of smaller ones: these are the moments cash gifts usually come up. Add a fund next to your regular items, or leave one pricier item on the list open for a group to split, and let people choose whichever way they'd rather give.

Add a cash fund to your list and let people chip in what they like.
