How to run a Secret Santa online in about two minutes

Start a Secret Santa and share the join link with your group. Everyone adds their name, and each person can add a few ideas so whoever draws them is not guessing. When everyone is in, press draw. Names are matched automatically, nobody draws themselves, and each person sees only their own match.

There is no hat, no spreadsheet and no reply-all thread, and the organiser does not see who drew who.

No sign-up for the people joining

The people in your group join from a link on their phone. They do not need to download an app or make a password first, which is usually the reason an office or family Secret Santa falls apart before it starts.

Set a budget so nobody is awkward

Add a budget note for the group and it sits on the page where everyone can see it, so a five dollar exchange stays a five dollar exchange. Each person's wish list sits alongside it, so the person who drew them has something real to work from.

Secret Santa, or a gifting group where everyone buys for everyone

A classic Secret Santa gives each person one person to buy for. If your family would rather share lists and let people choose, start a gifting group instead. Either one is free, and you can run as many as you like.
